Preschool Piano & Music Foundation

An engaging class blending playful music exploration with real piano skills.

About the Program

These small-group classes for preschoolers combine the joy of early childhood music with the foundations of real piano playing. Classes are energetic, creative, and developmentally appropriate — helping kids build rhythm, pitch awareness, fine motor skills, and musical confidence.

Classes use a cyclical learning approach, meaning key skills are introduced, revisited, and expanded over time. Children can join at any time — new students quickly catch on as topics repeat, while returning students deepen their understanding.

Through hands-on exploration, movement, and creative play, students will develop:
🎵 Symbol-to-sound recognition — connecting musical symbols to piano sounds
🎵 Finger independence & coordination — building motor skills for piano playing
🎵 Rhythmic awareness & pattern recognition — strengthening listening and musical understanding
🎵 Improvised play on the piano — encouraging creativity and self-expression

Each session includes:

  • A WunderKeys Preschool Piano Book — a research-backed curriculum for young learners

  • Online audio tracks to support learning at home

  • A private studio portal with helpful parent resources

  • Personalized weekly handouts tailored to each child’s progress

  • Small class size (3-5 students) ensures each child gets individual attention in every lesson.

Classes provide a low-pressure, supportive environment that sparks creativity, builds strong musical foundations, and nurtures a lifelong love of music — no prior experience needed!

I enrolled my 2.5-year-old daughter in Kaitlyn’s preschool class and was so happy to see her learning piano basics — black and white keys, high and low, slow and fast — as well as awareness of each of her fingers, with the clever use of some very cute finger puppets! She is comfortable now sitting at the piano and is eager to learn more. I’m excited to have Kaitlyn continue being her piano teacher for years to come.

Parent Involvement

Parents typically do not stay during class (as children often focus better without them), but you’re welcome to join at the end of each session for a brief “Show and Tell” to see what your child has learned! If your child is on the younger side or needs extra support, we’re always happy to accommodate a parent staying!

Prepare for Private Lessons

Unlike most preschool music programs, this one includes real piano learning from the very first lesson.
Your child will receive personal attention in a small-group setting, while you’ll have access to a full library of resources to stay engaged in their learning journey.
These classes build a strong foundation that helps children transition smoothly into private piano lessons.

  • "Kaitlyn is an incredible teacher. My daughter started when she was 6 and she now loves piano. Kaitlyn is an incredibly skilled musician and is a truly gifted and kind teacher. She provides many great experiences for her students with recitals and fun activities and challenges throughout the year. I would recommend her for every age and I hope my daughter can continue learning from her for many years to come."

  • "Kaitlyn is an incredible piano teacher! She has been teaching both my kids since they were each 6 years old, and they love their piano lessons! My kids have very different personalities and learning styles and she adapts her teaching to meet each of their needs perfectly. Kaitlyn is exceptionally patient, offers creative games and challenges to help engage young kids, and is always flexible when scheduling conflicts arise. I always recommend her to anyone who is looking for a piano teacher!"
